Case for Support
Our primary goal and sole focus is to rank last in Canada for crime. Whenever has being last ever been a crowning achievement? When it means a reduction in crime and improved well-being for Manitobans.
The Aurora Foundation is the only community led foundation focused on funding innovative approaches to address the high level of crime across Manitoba. The Aurora Foundation Board of Directors is diverse, with representatives from the Indigenous and BIPOC community, and 50% of the directors are women and women of color.
Increasing violence across Manitoba began as a spark many years ago, historically with colonization, which continues to rage on, despite valiant efforts of many advocates, organizations and others. Manitoba ranks as one of the top three most violence provinces in the country, and is frequently the murder capital of Canada. Manitoba is ground zero for Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.
Our understanding is violence frequently begins at an early stage at home, with greater risk in remote and rural areas, and against women and girls. Manitoba is ground zero for Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. The Aurora Foundation is focused on funding innovative, novel approaches to ending Gender-Based Violence as our starting point. We are seeking partners and contributors to our mission and to achieve our goal.
